Our Story

A Simple Realization
Build For Good began with a simple realization: what’s not working for people experiencing homelessness won’t change on its own.
For too long, solutions to homelessness have been designed from the outside in, built around systems instead of the people who’ve lived it.
A New Way of Building
We saw an unmet need for something different, a new way of building.
One that treats people experiencing homelessness as partners in creating solutions, not as problems to solve.
Housing Isn't Enough
Housing matters deeply, yet our neighbors experiencing homelessness remind us that housing alone isn’t enough.
Stability begins with a home, but lasting change grows from community, purpose, and belonging. It’s built through genuine partnership with those who know homelessness firsthand.
Why We Exist
That’s why Build For Good was founded. We bring new energy and collaboration to ending homelessness.
We start by listening to people who’ve lived it, spark fresh ideas, and strengthen local efforts that work.
Our Mission
We build power with people impacted by homelessness through advocacy, education, and community action.
Our Vision
A Mohawk Valley where everyone has a place to call home and a voice in how we get there.
We build change. Together.
The Problem
Too many people in our community can’t find a safe, stable home. The systems meant to help are often stretched thin and hard to navigate, leaving people without the right kind of support when they need it most.
When our neighbors with firsthand experience of homelessness aren’t asked what actually works, we overlook what truly helps and lasting solutions remain out of reach.
Our Approach
At Build For Good, we know housing isn’t enough. People also need to feel heard, supported, and connected.
We work alongside neighbors who’ve experienced homelessness, offering practical support that fills the gaps traditional services often miss.
We build community and create opportunities for people to lead, so lasting solutions can grow.
The Result
When our neighbors have a home, a voice, and a community, everything changes.
People who have experienced homelessness can plan for the future, lead change, and contribute to a stronger, more connected community where lasting solutions take root and everyone has the chance to build a good life.
